The Hamilton team were able to film a small-scale version of the play which will be broadcast on their YouTube channel to ensure a community celebration of Easter. Please check Social Media for further information. The team will be back with a full-scale version of the play, performed live in Hamilton on Good Friday and East Kilbride on Easter Saturday 2022.
Drama Kirk is a Fresh Expression of Church, which brings the gospel to life through drama. Seeing things portrayed and being a part of a dramatization of scripture takes us a stage beyond bible readings: our understanding is deepened and our emotional journey heightened. The company is led by husband and wife team Ross and Liz Blackman. Ross is now a parish minister but was previously a time served joiner and so manages the technical aspects of productions. Liz is a professional actor turned minister’s wife, who produces and directs.
The majority of our wonderful community company is drawn from our local churches, with cast members ranging in age from 3 to 83. Some come with a great deal of experience of drama, others with none – all come willing to take the gospel message into the heart of their local community. Drama Kirk is looking forward to the opportunity to work with the experienced team at Wintershall to improve the quality of what they produce and welcome learning from the experts. The same play, performed at the same time throughout the country? That will indeed be One Good Friday!
